    Best Long Distance Hiking Shorts

    Outstanding trail shorts — two pairs carried me across countries

    I bought two pairs of Outdoor Voices RecTrek shorts at Sam’s Club specifically for the Via Francigena, walking from Canterbury to Rome. They were the only shorts I packed.

    I hand-washed them every evening in a sink. They rinsed clean, wrung out easily, and were dry by morning — even in damp pilgrim lodgings. After weeks of daily miles they still look and feel great. No sagging, no lingering odor, no blown-out seams.

    They are exceptionally comfortable. The fabric stretches where you need it, stays put when you’re climbing, and never feels clammy. The pockets are actually useful: zippers that stay closed, space for a phone, passport, and a few euros without bouncing or digging in.

    I’ve owned plenty of expensive “premium” hiking shorts. These outperform most of them at a fraction of the price. For a long pilgrimage where every ounce and every wash cycle matters, they were the right call.

    I would buy them again without hesitation and recommend them to anyone who needs reliable shorts that can take a beating and still feel good at the end of a 20-mile day.

    I love wearing these, even to work. They hold up well, and the fabric is a bit heavy, so they have a more "formal" appearance.

    These are great. Same material as the pants; they're not a super soft fabric, but they feel durable & they don't get too hot. Great for hikes.

    I wish these had zippered side pockets like the pants, but I still like them.

    Bought this for my boyfriend and he liked them! He said they're comfortable and fits perfect. He's consistently a size medium in all brands and the M fit him well. The fabric is exactly the same as the women's rektrek short, super durable and versatile for outdoors. I used his measurements for the review!
